I’ve been really pleased with the start of the Press Group at school. We’re using a team of students from Year 10 to be responsible for publicising and reporting back on events that happen at school. The team have organised themselves into smaller groups, each taking responsibility for a different aspect of the job. So there is the ‘writing’ team, the ‘technical production’ team, the ‘planning’ team and so on. Last week we had a training workshop where they worked together, writing interviews for staff, conducting video interviews, creating a diary of events for coverage etc. Hopefully this will eventually lead to more of the young people’s achievements being publicised to a wider audience.
